Need help with cash register programming and usage

I have a client who purchased a Royal cash register, model Alpha 710ML at good 'ole Wally-World. He found someone to get the intial set-tup done, however it isn't fully set-up for him to ring up his expanding inventory, nor can he (or I) make heads or tails of the manual on how he should ring up discounts on a sale. Does anyone have any experience with cash registers that would be willing to meet us on-site one day in at the Market in downtown Indy?
