Know any fabulous women? It's time for the fifth annual Torchbearer Awards: Indiana's Salute to Women

(from an email I received, just helping get the word out)

Please help find award winners for 2009!

Each year in celebration, the Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) honors exceptional women who have overcome obstacles and have made Indiana a better place in which to work, live and raise a family.

Here at ICW we often say that Indiana's best natural resources are the women who live, work and raise families here. We are proud to have awarded 100 Torchbearer awards over the past four years to women from all over the state, in a myriad of occupations and with personal histories rich in achievement.

Recipients of the Torchbearer Award are women who are recognized for their outstanding achievements and work in Indiana. This prestigious award is the highest award to be given only to women by the State of Indiana and is recognized as a true achievement not only by the recipients, but also those whose lives they touch.

What: A Torchbearer Award, the highest award presented only to women by the State of Indiana.

Who: One need not be a corporate president or a community maven to be honored. We are seeking to honor Indiana women who have eliminated barriers for women while making Indiana a better place to live, work and raise a family. Note: Nominations must be made by a group or an organization.

When: The gala will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the beautiful Indiana Roof Ballroom. More information to come!

How: It's easy! Visit our website at http://www.in.gov/icw/2334.htm to download the nomination form or call (317) 232-6720 or (317) 233-6303 for assistance.

The nomination deadline is Friday, December 12, 2008.

Please consider nominating a woman from your community, organization or industry for this prestigious award!

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. We want to know the real you...Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. We want to know the real you...Please do NOT use your Smaller Indiana blog for blatant self promotion

3. We want to see your smiling face...Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo
