Is the economy the only thing that matters?

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Do we need to save the arts if few people can afford tickets, and we have no economic stability? Should we be concerned about the environment if Americans are out of work? Do we need to be thinking about long term issues if we can't pay for food today? Or will the economy work itself out if we stop worrying about things we can't control, and simply get back to work? I might be non-average in that I don't have cable TV and don't watch the nightly News. I really think there is an element of propaganda inherent in News on TV that we can't control. I have been listening to Macro-Economic Trends from VisionVictory on YouTube for about 1+ year. He predicted about 1 year in advance that the markets (DJIA) would hit 7000 to 8000 and was spot on, also he has little faith in listening to News Media for facts.

Government will run the enconomy the same way they run the BMV. The economy can fix it's self if government would just let us keep more of our own money and stop all the spending. Government = Red Tape. It will kill the economy. If feel feel good they will spend money.

I think the end of Chris F. response had one important point that we all need to think about. WE need to go out and "create" work because no matter what the politicians say, their plans aren't going to create jobs.

Should we "worry"? Probably not, but stay concerned and keep an eye on things, most definitely.
