Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

As my previous position was recently eliminated, I'm looking for my "next opportunity." I'd prefer to stay in the Indianapolis area but find a lack of job boards or other resources, especially for communications professionals. Any suggestions/recommendations?

There are a few places you could try:

IndyJobBoard.com - Smaller Indiana's own job board
Indeed.com - Search for jobs or industries. Has a Google-like interface. Search for a specific position or company, and save searches in an RSS feed.
CatalistJobs - Started by Ben McCann, who's here on Smaller Indiana.

Confluence - Networking group for mid- to large-size corporations. Small group right now, but we're slowly growing.
Rainmakers - HUGE networking group for small business professionals, entrepreneurs, etc. This is a great place to network for new jobs, find people you want to meet, and even a place to start your own business.

If you're interested in either networking group, contact me directly, and I'll give you details, and you can come to an event as my guest.

Don't forget about the Business and Professional Exchange. The BPE north side chapter meets every Monday at 7am at the St. Luke's Church on 86th and Meridian.

The Work One offices are also good for providing resources for your search.

Have you checked with the PRSA?

I'm definitely interested in Confluence. I'm familiar with most of the others (including PRSA and IABC, of course). Thanks.

Go to www.IndyConfluence.com, and see where we'll be next (Blu Martini on 96th, on Tuesday, July 14, 3:00 - 5:00 pm). If you come out, just mention that you're there as my guest. You'll get in for free.

Thanks, Lou. I'm aware of them but appreciate the extra nudge!

Help

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. We want to know the real you...Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. We want to know the real you...Please do NOT use your Smaller Indiana blog for blatant self promotion

3. We want to see your smiling face...Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

4. Events should be posted in the events calendar, not inside blog posts

5. Please do NOT post commercial video (demo reels), or Corporate Website promotions in your blog

6. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

7. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.
