Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

I have just started a online web site and I have been working long hours, working on search engines and blog pages. If anyone has a better networking way I would really appreciate the help. I have had a rough start and just hope that I can get this site off the ground. It is a school project that I had to personally sink money in too that I did not have. So if any one has any good suggestion I would really, really appreciate any suggestion.

Thank You,
Gary Minardo Jr

Any suggestions on what? Getting more traffic? Or actually face-to-face networking?

Gary, I would recommend reading some articles on search engine optimization and online business promotion. They'll all say the same thing, more or less, so once you see a couple, you'll get the idea of the advice.

Do things like:

- Add a tracking module, like Google Analytics or StatCounter.com. This will show you where your stats are coming from.
- Choose your keywords carefully. Use Google's Keyword Analyzer, find out which keywords that fit your site are most likely to be clicked on. Use those keywords in your titles, headlines, sub-heads, and a few times throughout the body text (no more than 1.5% keyword density).
- Create backlinks to your site. One of the easiest ways is to leave comments in other blogs that point back to your site. One of the BEST ways, however, is to get other people to do it for you on their own site.
- Get a Twitter ID, and start participating in the conversations. Don't just pepper people with "visit my site" messages over and over. Rather, be on Twitter, conversing with people, and let them get to know you. Leave helpful comments and answer questions that are related to what your website does; become a thought leader and expert on your website's topic. As you answer questions, people will visit your site to see what makes you such an expert.

Those are just a few ideas off the top of my head. Let me know if you have any other questions.

You should have gone to freewebs.com

Exactly.. there are lot of ad free , no-popup web hosting places out there. If you design the site by yourself, you shouldn't incur any expenses for putting a site online with a decent domain like yourname.co.cc

And.....They actually allow you to purchase your own domain name and customize to your hearts desire. The free sites, just like Nings are quite effective.

Ben McCann helped me to transfer my free website information to create a beautiful ning site for Operation OpenUp. Just recently, WorkOne deleted access to all social networking sites from their computers. Fortunately SI was represented. When I saw that, I appealed to the administrator urging him to include access to OP, stating that I work quite frequently with WorkOne reps. I was approved and I was HAPPY!!!!

See what Ben McCann did for me!
