Making people and ideas findable

Does Indiana need such a Program to move up from being #48?

In 1970 under the Barefoot Doctor concept, China trained 2,000,000 villagers to be able to help their families, neighbors, anyone who needed help in so-called “pre-Med” stages.
To relive a headache, muscles pain, lower blood pressure, soar throat etc. As a result, this solved the problems of healthcare and health insurance costs and doctor shortages, restored a large portion of the public's health, reduced illness and healing times, made medicine available to all, including those in remote villages, and placed healthcare back in the hands of the people who could then take charge of their own health after training.
Not every minor condition requires a doctor’s attention.
Back in USSR (and I am sure other foreigners have their stories) our mothers and grandmothers knew what to do when we kids got a cold or even flu, scratched our knees and elbows, had stomach problems etc etc. From what I see in this country today – parents’ first impulse is “we need to see a doctor!”

My dearest Friend and Mentor Dr. Yurasek is promoting “Barefoot Doctors” program all around the country.

Is Indiana ready?? I have my doublts...

Here is a fragment of his proposal to the State of IL:

"Over a 5-year period, expect to train in Illinois approximately 1200 community residents, public health workers, and healthcare professionals (social workers, nurses, nutritionists, doctors, counselors, physicians, healers, alternative health practitioners) per community in Barefoot Medicine and AcuFlash Digitized Laser technology.

This would result in approximately 400 new jobs for people currently disabled, unemployed or underemployed; training of approximately 300 volunteers for externships and internships; and upgrade of job skills for approximately 500 existing public health and medical staff (physicians, nurses, medical assistants, physician assistants, chiropractors, naprapaths, naturopaths, licensed acupuncturists, social workers, clinicians, medical students, and alternative healers) to learn the approach of medicine as published in the Barefoot Doctor's Manual, which was translated from Chinese and published in its English translation by the former U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. "

Dr. Yurasek is promoting AcuCenters all over the world, but believes charity begins at home, so has trained women of low wealth to provide care to their children all over the United States free of charge, and treated addicts, and persons who are incarcerated without drugs and surgery.

Illinois should be honored that Dr. Yurasek has accepted the request of the Green Think Tank for the Disability Community and Dr. Maat to work to set up a public health AcuCenter in Rogers Park, followed by other communities where persons cannot afford health insurance and healthcare, or have chronic illness, disability, addiction and mental health problems; or have needs that go beyond what Medicaid and Medicare can or are willing to cover.

HOW ABOUT US - HOOSIERS??

Who Do I Need to Contact to get Barefoot Doctors Program attention in our state?
