Making people and ideas findable

It's easy to appreciate the obvious art forms like Music, painting, sculpture...writing. These are the things we call art, and people who practice these crafts are sometimes called artists, or at least artistic. We admire these people. We love to watch them use their gifts, so much so that we often pay money for the privilege. We often wish we were artists too.

But what about other forms of arts? What if music were metaphor for a particular gift inside a person? Do we each have our own particular kind of music inside us?

Isn't it possible that any gift expressed or shared with the world just like a song. Do you have any gifts like that? What if you can't paint, but you are great with numbers? Maybe you aren't much of a singer, but you are an amazing mom? Do we really appreciate these kinds of gifts as much as we should? Have you found your personal music? Will you tell us about it? Share your thoughts here.

I used to be able to play "The Entertainer" on the piano. Doubt I could do it anymore though. I would love to produce/engineer/play music but I haven't delved into the field as of yet. The idea is in my hopper, though.

Unfortunately the way hiring and management of talent is done these days many of our hidden gifts are just hidden never to be discovered. So even if we recognize our gifts there is no one to receive them. There in lies the paradox - how do we know that we have a gift when no one recognizes it? (loudly wondering if what I said above makes any sense :-) ) .

Makes perfect sense, and I wholeheartedly agree, PK.

I'm actually a graphic artist in my career but my true gift is my big open heart that I wear on my sleeve. It's what God gave to me and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Yes, sometimes my big heart breaks easily but I always enjoy making someone else's day by doing small little things everyday for other people. If I can make one person smile then I feel ten times better about my life.
