Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

From Fast Company...The concept of the triple bottom line has migrated from the margins to the mainstream of the business world. A recent report by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Mayors Climate Protection Center found that business services like legal, research and consulting account for the majority of all green jobs -- over 400,000. This includes everything from marketing to the LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) segment, to serving as a VP of sustainability within a large company, to piloting a green startup like Method or Recyclebank. Seems like a noble pursuit. Anyone know if local schools will offer such programs? If you were going back for your MBA, would you want to go "green?" Share your comments here

The point of the question is to see where Indiana stands relative to preparing students to find work in the "green" economy that seems to be emerging. New jobs requiring deeper understanding of sustainability are rising in demand. It's a growth area. Some of the jobs take particular training. All are about conserving natural resources.

I'm taking the GMAT in two weeks and will be applying to Ball State, IU, UIndy and Butler. To answer your question I could careless if one of them offered a Green MBA. It would not have the slightest effect on where I decide to go.

I suggest the School of Public & Environmental Affairs at IU Bloomington. Their programs interface with Kelley School of Business. There is also a Graduate Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship.
