Can we trust Obama with Our National Security? Why? Why Not?

How do you feel about Obama being the Commander and Chief? He's about to have his first National Security Briefing. Can we trust him? Why? Why Not? Don't tell me you trust him because he gives pretty speeches.

Why can I really trust him? I’m concerned about the safety of our nation. How do we know he is honest? How do we know he will not betray us?

How do you know he's not honest? How do you know he will betray us? I'm taking him on faith -- faith in him, faith in the system of checks and balances. You seem to be saying that since he had Muslim influences in his life, he is automatically a radical Muslim fundamentalist spy who has labored for the past 47 years to worm his way into the highest office in the world so he can tear it down from the inside.

What I'm reading from your posts this week is that you think all Muslims are bad and evil, including people who have been associated with Muslims. I have known plenty of Muslims in my life, and none of them have been evil or tried to kill me. In fact, the vast majority of Muslims love peace, and believe that violence in the name of Mohamed is wrong; it's only the small few who have twisted the Muslim faith into something perverted and evil. Just like a majority of Christians love peace, and believe that hatred and intolerance in the name of God is wrong, and would never spew hateful slogans at a soldier's funeral or anything so shameful.

I suppose the question is not whether we trust Barack Obama, it's a question of whether we trust that his election is part of God's plan. If we think the wrong man got elected, then maybe we don't trust God. But if we trust God's plan, then we have to trust all of it, not just the parts where our favorite candidate got elected.

I don't think I could have ever put it any better.

Eric, are you suggesting that Democrat Party is now in full force behind God? Funny how Democrats don't bash Barack for being a Christian, but when Bush was open about being a Christian he was publicly lashed out at.

Maybe that tingle going down Chris Matthews leg was the power of The Lord and not Baracks words.

Getting sick of "God's Word" being played on both sides of politics.

I actually thought that tingle was 'cause he wet himself.

Oh Theresia, I love your comment. Also love the new bumper sticker you found. Where can we get one?

What bumper sticker? I got one before the election with Obama's name on it , but it had an extra letter on it. hehehehe

No, but I am suggesting God likes Democrats better. (I'M JUST KIDDING!!! THAT WAS JUST A JOKE!! Please don't kill me.)

I don't know about the whole party, but I am both a Christian and a Democrat, and I know I'm in full force behind both of them.

I think a large part of the Democratic party are Christians and believe in God. I guess Democrats bash Bush for being a Christian is just as bad as Republicans bashing Obama for having Muslim ties. If one is wrong, the other is wrong.

I personally thought it was wrong when Bush got bashed for his faith, because I wouldn't want someone to question mine.

Sometimes, God is also our teacher. In those times, He may decide to "give" us what we want (or think we want) instead of what we need or what is actually His plan, just so we learn. We are not necessarily in a position to know the difference until it becomes hindsight....and you know, hindsight is always 20/20.

Oh this will be controversial. Not all Christians believe in an active God who necessarily moves and controls what happens on earth. For those of us who do not, it does not mean we do not believe in omnipotence, just we do not believe in the pre-destination of a planned world. Food for thought.

It doesn't have to be controversial. Everyone just needs to respect other's view points, regardless of whether they agree or disagree. That's where we (and I mean the "general" we, not any specific individual) most often have trouble.

It is good food for thought, as well.

I don't believe God placed Bush into office any more than I believe He placed Obama into office. I think, right or wrong, that the American people placed those two men into office. I think if a president starts believing that God put them there, you can start to believe that anything you do in office is "right" or "God's will." I think Bush started to do that and we paid the price. If Obama starts to do the same thing (believing he has a mandate from God to right the wrongs of the past administration), then we'll all be in big trouble.

Good point. What is one man's voice from God is another man's delusions.

I guess we have to decide for ourselves whether God is in complete control of our own lives and everything around us, or whether things just happen without rhyme or reason.
