Thank you for all of your replies! Now I'd like to open it up a bit if you have a minute...

What is your opinion of the:

This time, you can add more than three words if you'd like. :)

Conservative, unimaginative, trendless

Interesting comment... Can you explicate a bit further?

Indiana caters to people who want easy living and ar afradi to push the envelope. This attitude leads to a city that is conservative (maintaining the status quo), unimaginative (lack of adventure), and trendless (stay with what is safe). Hossiers favor staying at home rather than going out. Indianpolis' downtown is quiet during the day and deserted at night. Teh city has cultural amenities but they are average. There is no effort to do any better. Contrast Indianapolis to Seattle which has the same population but is forward looking, vibrant, and trendy. Seattle's characteristic are partlyresponsible for attracting the types of people who create new companies and jobs.

What can we do to help a change take place?

Where do you live and what do you do? I just looked at your profile on here, but it didn't tell me much...

We have to become more like other high growth regions to survive and attract the people who will help us recreate our econoomy. We have to change our attitude, improve our amenities, and make Indiana a vibrant place to live. It will take leadership, money, a lot of effort, reduction in resistance to change.

I live in Indianapolis. I have a consulting practice directed toward life sciences business development.
