Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

I'm looking for recommendations on Indianapolis-based photographers. My agency does a lot of work in Indy, but we don't have a go-to guy/gal. Instead of scrambling every time we need someone, it would be great to have a relationship with one or two photographers who can shoot a variety of stuff. Priorities are:

1. Good. Yup, quality matters. We don't want to pay extra for shots that are in focus. Our art directors are good at what they do and they want to work with someone who will make them even better.

2. Good to work with. Someone who's going to improve our relationships with our clients. No prima donnas. Mean people suck. You get the picture.

3. Affordable. We're used to Fort Wayne rates, and sometimes it's more affordable to have a Fort Wayne photographer travel to Indy. That's not always convenient, though, and not always possible.

Please post any recommendations here, along with links to a portfolio, if available. Thanks!

Welcome to Smaller Indiana. I'm a marketing consultant and freelance photographer, and am happy to talk to you more in depth about rates and project specifics. My photography website details my depth more than frequency. I have basic studio lights and a chroma-key background, but am better suited to do on-site shots.

I have all digital equipment and pull out my medium format (film) camera if the shoot calls for it.

www.hoosierimages.com is the photo site.

Feel free to contact me at 317.557.4750
I've been using Wayne Williams off and mostly on for over 20 years. He's experienced, high-end in quality but not price. Does studio and location work equally well. Has worked with most major Indy corporations (when they existed). Call 353-1135. As an past art director from a large Indianapolis agency, and freelancing for the last several years, I heartily recommend.
I do know a great photographer in Indy, however I'm on the road right now and don't have his info. He does great work, he's experienced and I haven't heard a complaint about him. I will get back to you with his info sometime this week.
I recently got Dean's name and have been meaning to contact him to see his work. He did come highly recommended and is relatively new to the area, so I think he's rebuilding his business here. Dean Hershberger’s number is 317-224-8019. Lakehartphotos@ccrtc.com

I also worked with a couple of young shooters who might not have a huge body of work yet, but seem to know their stuff pretty well, have equipment and I'm sure the price is good. E-mail me for their info.
Good morning, Anthony. I'm an experienced photographer who has worked in this capacity for over 12 years. I began in advertising and marketing. Because I am also a designer, I shoot with a strong eye for print media.
I would love to hear from you regarding your future projects in Central Indiana.

Here is his phone number:317 602-4332 and his name is Brandon Anderson. He used to do very high end work with some A-list celebs and major magazines. He is currently starting his own photography business called Third Eye Photography. Tell him that Brandon Sobotka sent you.

You might check out Mike Meadows -- he's a great guy & does awesome work.
Anthony,

I was paired with a woman named Julie at the Homeward Bound Walk to Fight Homelessness that was taking photos of the event as an in-king donation.

Her company is Juel Photography

Just spotted your post. I HIGHLY recommend Don Distel. http://distelphoto.com/
Don is a business to business professional. I've known him and hired him for more than a decade.

Quality--spot on! Don wants us to look over his shoulder to make sure we're getting what we need. If it's not right, he shoots it until we're all satisfied.

Good to work with--YES! He's easy going and we always get our photos on disk within a day or days to our request. We did a daylong shoot with Don in a manufacturing facility with the client by his side. They loved him.

Affordable--Yes. His rates are reasonable and service is the best.
Anthony,
We are a local photographer, between the Carmel and Zionsville area, and have been in business for 24 years. I would be happy to discuss your needs. www.wyantphoto.com

Hi Anthony --

When I worked for Indianapolis Woman in 1997, we worked with Tony Clevenger who owns Quarter Moon Associates. He's terrific and very laid back. I believe his studio is still in the Stutz building. I also have worked with Sid Rust. Sid is very reasonable and he's done a lot of work for WISH-TV. I found hom to be quite talented and easy to work with too. Good luck!

Beth
