Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

Lots of Smoosiers have posted job listings, or positions wanted. Has anyone actually found a job or hired a new employee or vendor through an SI connection?

I haven't tried using the Classifieds as yet, so I can't speak intelligently to the question. I can say that I called the number in the ad and the Beaver on a Stick has already been sold. =(

Yes, Yes, Yes!

I have posted and I have responded to postings.

Response and turnaround have been great1

One suggestion. For those who are seeking to employ. Be kind enough to send a "Thank-you, but no," letter to those who have taken the time out to respond to your posting but for some reason do not meet your criteria. (Or let the powers that be know that this would be a courteous move)

Pat:
I used the Help Wanted section to recruit people to serve as panelists for an event I organized. The responses exceeded my expectations and I had more volunteers than I actually needed. The people who participated on the panel were all fabulous and I've gotten rave reviews from the attendees.

Here is my question for this topic. How would I inquire or let it be know that I am currently looking for a FT career position on a site like SI.com. I have tried Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com in the past, and I will not use them again. Quite frankly you are just a number on those sites. One of the things I thought with a site like SI it was not quick etiquette
to solicit for jobs and other related opportunities. However, with my current search going, more like hitting a wall I want to explore this on SI.com. Thoughts and if it is acceptable etiquette
I have a resume to go and would look input, and leads. Perhaps I should do a video blog on this topic and see what kind of response I get?!

Let's start with what you want to do...then figure out who on the site can help...the figure out the best way to communicate your availability...meanwhile, if you can think of ways to get notice on SI - adding value to the community by doing the things that make you a good hire - that would be the perfect storm.

There are SI Classifieds? There are of job listings? Yes!

Finally found them. 5 of the 27 Forums cater to Classifieds.
I'm slow, but I get there....
